Default Holiday Schedule of Chinese Embassies/Consulates in Foreign Countries/Regions

Generally speaking, the Chinese embassies or consulates in foreign countries/regions will be closed on public holidays of China and the resident country in order to celebrate the holidays. Because the holidays of resident countries vary greatly, only the public holidays of China in 2010 is listed here. If you will apply for Chinese visa, you'd better read the holiday notice released on its official website beforehand because some Chinese embassies/consulates will be closed on different dates during public holidays.

Festivals Date Day
New Year's Day January 1 Friday
Spring Festival February 13 - 15 Saturday - Monday
Tomb-Sweeping Day April 5 Monday
International Labor Day May 1 Saturday
Dragon Boat Festival June 16 Wednesday
Mid-Autumn Day September 22 Wednesday
National Day of China October 1 - 3 Friday - Sunday

Note: When a public holiday falls on Sunday, the embassy is closed on the following Monday; when a public holiday falls on a Saturday, the embassy is closed on the preceding Friday. For example, the International Labor Day is on May 1 (Saturday), in fact, the Chinese embassy or consulate will be closed on April 30, the preceding Friday.
